Default KOJO Tune Review

Well i finally got a reflashed ecm in this thing finally. I got a Kojo
tune from walking j designs. I just want to say he has great customer service and is good to talk with.

Well about the tune. I wanted more power obviosuly and it is certanily there. even with 3.42 gears and oversized tires when im turning and i punch it the tires will go up in smoke. more black smoke is also there for all those guys that like that. top end performance has also increased too. the turbo doesnt run out of breath as easily like it used to now that has some fuel to work with and more boost.

i also got my torque converter to lock up 5mph earlier so i can save some fuel when driving the roads near my house that are all mostly 45 mph. another thing about the torque converter is once its locked up there is so much more midrange torque i can just put a little pedal into it and the truck will accerlate a lot faster than before. i think its pretty neat when its accerlating fast and the engine is barely working.

some more tranny tuning i like is now when i lose traction in 2nd no more bogging of engine rpms. now just a quick downshift and back to the races. turbo whistle has increased and the sound the truck makes when at full throttle going up a steep hill is orgasmic.

only driven 120 miles with it so i dont have any fuel economy numbers but for only going 120 miles and how much abuse the truck got in those 120 miles the fuel gauge has suprising not moved as much as i thought. im going to have to pull about 4k pounds in two weeks so we will see how well it does towing. overall it is worth the money and the wait. any questions feel free to ask.

any chance you'll be able to strap to a dyno? It really seems like what the 6.5 world is missing is some real numbers and graphs of tune vs tune to really see how they stack up in the rpm ranges.

dyno time locally is really expensive and diesel events near chicago never really happen except for county fair sled pulls so i doubt it unless a dyno event pops up around here and its somewhere close. Crazy the Kojo Tune is bascially a custom tune unlike heath's gle and gl4 which are the same for everybody so if you tell them they can make a tune better suiting for towing large loads. its also cheaper than heath which is a plus.

towed that 4k load today. did very well. a lot more power and not a lot of downshifting even with the lower tcc speed

super happy with it. my truck is actually fun to drive and i dont feel like i am dragging it when im driving, it has a lot of power which is nice sometimes driving in traffic. i can make those tiny holes in the other lane a lot easier. also when towing i dont have to redline just to keep up with traffic which is a plus
