Default damn old chevy beat a dodge

ok so my truck really suprised me tonight, its turned up and has a cold air intake with a straight exhaust but thats it. i was driving through joplin earlier and a dodge dually got beside me and started dropping gears. we got stopped at a stop light and i could hear him start to spool up so he could launch. i left on the foot break and we were nose to nose then i pulled about 3 truck lengths on him before letting off. i know it was just a stock 24v cummins truck but im pretty happy because i only hear how gutless 6.5s are
my truck is an automatic and chirps the tires when it shifts into second, is that normal?
at the strip it ran a 17.3 at 78 mph

I would have to say your 6.5 is running perty good. But hay my 85 Ford with a 6.9 diesel out pulled a 06 Duramax at a sled pull this summer

thats pretty fast for a pretty close to stock 6.5. someone might of put a shift kit in your tranny before you got it so thats why its chirping the tires in 2nd. nothing wrong with that in my opinion though

i think it does have a shift kit or something, when i bought the truck the guy was talking about something on the transmission that could be adjusted to improve towing, but i dont know what he really meant by it. i dont know much about 4L80E's

I love suprising unsuspecting owners of "other" trucks....like the gas v8's with flowmasters who think their truck is fast because its loud....well all they see is a puff of smoke and im gone so have fun explaining to your girlfriend in the passenger seat why an orange highway maintenance truck beat your lifted vortec with a fake ram air hood....

if you know your way around trannys you can open them up and tighten the bands... thats the easiest way to chirp the tires wen it shifts...

6.5's are one of the quickest trucks in stock form I've driven. My lil 1/2 ton 6.5 is waayyy quicker than any stock dodge I've driven.... And quicker than most duramax's too.

Now, start chippin em, and it's a whole new day.

Thats one thing I have always liked about the 6.5. They have the go of a gas truck with more power. If you where going to pull a 20k trailer it would not be my first choice but most of the time I drive it and deliver products to people with the occasional 10k worth of trailer behind it.
