Question 1992 chevy k1500 6.5ltd HELP!!!

NEW HERE to DB as u can see .. i have a 92 chevy k1500 6.5Ltd r so says the previous owner did a vin check and came up with a 6.2 original the truck is sluggish and has had the tranny worked on a few times for throwing torque converters.. what is there that i can do and how would actually tell which engine is really under the hood?? any helpful ideas would be greatly appreciated

Its not easy to tell the difference between a 6.2 and 6.5. If it has a banks turbo on it it is probably a 6.2.

thanks i figured it might be a 6.2 because it still has the egr valve and ive read the 6.5s dont im lost with this truck but she is my baby no major problems at all just needs some tlc any suggestions on what to do to it

F code 6.5's don't S codes do. The first thing I would do is find a non egr intake for it. If it has a banks turbo on it it has probably already had the pump turned up. Unless you have a pyrometer I would not turn up the pump up.If you have one turn the pump up just make sure not to over do the egt's. There isn't a whole lot of after market performance parts for the 6.2.

first diesel so a lil new to the arrangement of the parts not sure what it has r not as far as i understand its bone stock besides the banks i kno the egr was bypassed by placeing a piece of sheet metal between the exhaust and valve once i removed the piece of metal it began to smoke at take off which i actually like

Yes it does have a turbo it has a banks turbo system already installed but I believe that is all the mods it has

i would turn the pump up.
