Default #9 resistor

I've heard good things and bad things about the #9 resistor. Is it a good idea to put it on my 6.5 turbo diesel or not?

If I recall correctly (don't quote me) If the pcm doesn't sense a resistor it defaults to a standard setting.

Benmelton0 asked if anyone had tried running the truck without a resistor. #9 gives max fueling based on stock ecm. Its a very small percentage over the resistor that came stock in the trucks.
