Default Caltracs bars

Have any of you 6.0 Bombers used Caltracs bars? I am in the market for some traction/ladder bars and these seem to be the ones I'm leaning towards. Traditional ladder bars aren't going to work for me because I need the ground clearance when I go wheeling with my friends. I have put my truck in a few places that would have high centered/taco'd ladder bars. (mmmmm tacos....) I've got a running board that is tweaked upward, so no ladder bars for me.

I spoke with Caltracs, but I also want to see what you guys know about them before I committed assault on the VISA again.

I've never personally used them, but everyone you talk to says they are THEE way to go for drag racing. Nothing compares. I'd be real interested to see how much they'd help you. Your axle wrap has to be terrible right now...

I know you need the clearance, but I really like some of the OUO traction/ladder bars too. I want to put something on mine, don't really care about clearance so much. I thought about just designing my own setup and building them.

The only other option would be to mount a set of Tuff Country ladder bars on top of the axle (welding the mount bracket up instead of down on the back of the tube). While the leverage of a ladder bar wouldn't be as great, the axle wrap would be eliminated and ground clearance would be maximized.

Just another of the joys of having the lightest/shortest Souper Doody made...

Go with the Cal-tracs and let us know how you like them. I've never heard anyone say anything but GREAT things about them.
