Default SCT Tuner & Fuel Pump

So I finally got an SCT Tuner. I was reading the instruction manual (I know, guys aren't supposed to do that), and it says to remove the fuel pump fuse and make sure everthing is turned off before programing. Does anyone really do that? I'm sure it's in the instructions for a reason, but...
Just askin!

I used to do it all the time... then realized, what the hell is the point? No, no need to do it.

I think they put that in the book because during the tune it will cycle the pump a couple of times putting fuel into the cylinders. I have never pulled out the fuse. I do get a little bit of black smoke when I first start it after tuning. Lasts like 2 seconds and that's it.
