A friend of mine who also owns a 6.0 ordered some spring that goes in the fuel filter bowl something like a regulator spring I think its called? The guy sent him two so he gave one to me. Has anyone heard of this/performed this modification and if so what are the benefits and or risks of this?

Power?
Fuel Economy?
Any risk to damaging the injectors IP or other fuel side components?

I tried doing some research on this, but I'm just not sure what to call the spring!

yup, the upgraded fuel regulator kit. I just got mine in along with my 6.4 banjo bolts. When I'm done with college next week the truck is getting parked and is going under the knife, these are two of the smaller mods.
Everywhere I've read it increases fuel pressure by about 10 psi
It should actually extend the life of the injectors.

 

A friendly word of advice: make sure you've got a fuel pressure gauge, before doing any fuel related modification.

Piperca - Thats a good word of advice... I've had a set of A-Pillar gauges on the list for a while now, and I'll make sure that gets bumped to the top!

 

Fuel pressure gauge is #1 important mod on a 6.0.

What are the 6.4 banjo bolts?

 

Banjo bolts are the factory head bolts. The 6.4L has stronger and I think thicker bolts than the 6.0

 

By headbolts you mean the bolts that are delivering fuel into the cylinder head right?
The banjo bolts are the bolts that deliever the fuel into the passage on each side of the cylinder head which allows fuel to get to the injectors. 6.4 banjos help the back injectors 7 and 8 so they aren't starving for fuel. Atleast thats what I have heard.

 

the 6.0 bolts have a check valve in them, the 6.4 bolts do not, there just hollow. Also the holes in the 6.4 bolts are larger.

 

The 6.4's are the same, except they dont have the check valves in them, they're hollow. They'll be less restrictive for letting fuel in. They are not thicker, or stronger by any means. I think you're confusing this with headbolts, that hold the heads down, not the bolts that feed the fuel into the heads in the front of the motor.

Correct, but this is only true if you're already dropping fuel pressure. Again, only way to tell if you need them, or if there is an improvement is with a fuel pressure gauge. Are we starting to see why this is so important guys?

Correct. You can also get different bolts on ebay that have even larger passages. I ran the ebay bolts for some time.
