Why do you need to cut the downpipe?

Take the trans crossmember out, and undo the clamp at the turbo. It'll just about fall out.

mainly because it takes 15 minutes to cut the stock pipe in half then you are ready to move on... where it would take 20 minutes just to take the crossmember out. then you still have to take the old downpipe out... and it doesnt juct fall right out. thats why i cut mine in half got tired of fighting the damn thing..and ill agree SAWZALLS RULE:rocking::c:

Only had about a thousand of 'em off...I guess practice makes perfect. Never really had any issue doing it this way, but different strokes for different folks, i guess

alot of people use a 3.5in dp. You may need to do some firwall modisication to keep it from vibrating, but its no big deal

my bro has a 4inch on his. it was 2 piece, went in just fine.

04redstroker 07-29-2009 05:00 PM

i havent done mine yet. Just been told that some people have trouble with them rubbing against the firewall

ltr450 07-29-2009 05:26 PM

this post is old but thanks. put a 3.5 to 4 is went on with easy. but the truck is being traded in on a cummins because it over heats when pulling and leaking oil and only gets 14mpg and is a single cab f350 srw and it has no chip in it

I had no problem with it rubbing on the firewall. Putting the downpipe in is easier with two people.:ok1:
