rear ends
I am getting ready to start my drag truck build. its gonna be a tubbed 2wd short bed. i was just have no idea as to what rear end what will handle the power. 800-1000ish. i have a chance to buy a ford 9 inch really cheap but has already been narrowed and has wheels with 18" s licks on it. will a 9 inch hold up or be built to hold up. or would i just be better to start with my dana and build it.

That's a 60, right? I think their about equal, comes down to how you build 'em, brand loyalties, and price. You already have the Dana, but it'll have to be modded, and I think quality Dana parts are more expensive than comparable 9 inch parts. You might be able to find better deals than I've seen, good luck either way

SRW Dana 80 with a spool and a good sturdy differential cover; I've heard the axle shafts in the 70's are it's weak link and aftermarket is expensive compared to 80's that can handle it right out of the box. Obviously you're going to want to get your gearing dialed in and with any luck you might be able to find an axle with the desired gearing
