hx40
yoo your gonna need a t4 flanged manifold, larger downpipe, a v band clamp, possibly an adapter for the turbo oil inlet and turbo drain lines, you'll need some way to connect to your intake and your gonna need a new air filter that can bolt up to the 3.5 inlet, i belive thats the size anyway im swaping an hx40 onto my truck curently, if you need parts PureDieselPower.com has great deals, you'll need there downpipe and its only like 100 bucks vs 200 on ebay
Y Bose everyone always assume every hx40 is t4? And the filter connector hose will work if it's from an ic'd truck. There are a lot of different ex outlets for hx40's so gotta know which u have before u know what has to be done to the down pipe.
umm yah you can buy an aftermarket hx40 with a t3 t4 or he2 manifold flange but the Hx40 was manufactured with a T4 flange originaly for the cummins 6CT 8.3L.... besides the T4 flange is the largest hence higher cfm why wouldnt you want to run it??
There may be t4 housings that are small enough to make the thing spin but all the ones I know of are at least a 17 which is on the large side unless Ur turning 3500rpm.
There are many factory holset turbos that came with a t3 flange, in fact I have a few in my shop right now. Just because ou saw an 8.3 with a t4 40 doesnt mean that's the only thing that ever came with a 40.

I put a 40 on my 92 this winter and all I did was get a 4 inch dp with the reducer to the factory 3 from a company in wisconsin. The whole swap was painless. I love the new set up!!
