I was wondering if anyone has tried making a ram air setup for our trucks. im thinking about making something up for mine to suck through the front cowl. but the only thing that holds me back is when i would drive in the rain. id be afraid that water would get up and in the system.

I woudl think a good cold air intake would be a better goal. I would not worry about water so much, the filter will stop that.

 

I have a little cutout below my right turnsignal. When the PS install was done, most of that piece of metal was deleted, except for the 12" pieces under the signals. I figured the 12" piece under the right side wasn't doing anything, so it's gone now too. I also have another 45* elbow and a 3" extension on my intake to position the filter closer to that opening.

That's about as ram air as it gets for me.

 

So, driving in the rain is the issue, correct? If injecting WATER methanol is a good thing, water alone will just cool. Unless you have a garden hose going to the turbo, you should only see a benefit of a little water.

 

Well your filter would stop the rain BUT if it didn't a water droplet (rain drop) meeting your compressor wheel would end in carnage.

 

There is that slight issue.

 

ya i was thinkin of doin the same thing that "the head" did. i would think that makin in ram air would give you some better fuel milage on the highway at higher speeds ya know.

 

Add a second turbo?

 

ha if only i had the money. someday.
