Super 40/35 w/ a 14cm WG!
Worked on it for a few hours on Saturday morning to get it bolted in. By Friday, I had all the necessary parts I needed to do the swap. Everything went in very smooth and quick. Then I discovered I didn't have the adapter for the oil line into the turbo. Blame it on not doing any research first and then finding out that stock non-intercooled h1c turbos don't have this adapter. It was my lucky day after making a Facebook post stating that I was in desperate need of it. A friend of mine text me a picture of it and asked, "looking for this?" I asked him how much and he said not to worry. That made my day!!
Got it pre-lubed with some oil, tightened up the oil line then started it....
Wow, this thing's loud!!! Here you can see why.
If anyone wants, I can post a short video I took today coming home from work with the exhaust like it is. It actually sounds good idling and when you've got your foot in it but you get one heck of a foot massage! Lol
The exhaust is only temporary until this weekend when I can get to a local muffler shop and have a section of 4" expanded to slip over the downpipe then put a seal-clamp on it. From there, it'll take a turn out to the side and exit in front of the rear wheel with the turn-down tip just barely sticking out. I plan to cut a couple sections off of my previous exhaust system and probably be able to use the existing hangers.
You'll probably laugh at this... The previous system was one solid piece from the downpipe to the end. A 10ft. length of 4" was welded to it last year when I upgraded to 4" exhaust.
Throttle response feels a lot better! When cruising to my sister's engagement party Saturday night, I noticed it doesn't take much pedal movement to get the truck moving.
Here are some other miscellaneous pictures of things while I was waiting for parts throughout last week.
I disconnected the wastegate the other day. Although it was set at 28-30psi, drive pressure wasn't accounted for. With drive pressure acting/pushing against the "puck," the combination of boost and drive pressure was causing it to open early, about 17psi on the gauge. I know the actuator rod can be adjusted to change the opening pressure so I just need to figure out how to so that I can adjust it to open at a true 28-30psi.

I got mine from a friend of mine with a '94. He seized the stock turbo long ago and it just so happened to still have the adapter in it.
Cruising about 73mph and 2250-2300RPM I see boost of about 7psi and EGTs about 700*. Pretty comfortable and impressive numbers as I barely have my foot in it to keep a constant speed. I plan on an ATS manifold sometime soon also.

I got my turbo from Brice at Big Bad Diesel Performance, they had the best price i could find, it was about $870 shipped. Other places wanted over a thousand for just a hx 35 and $2000-$3000 for a stock replacment baby h1c. I also did a larger coolertubz crossover so i can fab my intake horn when i IC my truck.

Hey Jimbo, did you post any of this up on DTR? I don't remember seeing it. Very nice install! I've been thinking about a Super HX40 as a single, but I know one day I'm going to go to a (very) mild set of twins, about like MoPowa's current project. I don't know if an HX40 would be too much as the secondary. What'ya reckon?

Haha yeah, it's posted over on DTR. Thread title is just about the same. Search for threads I've started and you'll find it!
For a "(very) mild" set of twins, I think the super 40 would work fine as a secondary. Not too much smaller than a s362 as it measures 60/60 and usually with a 16cm housing.

I bought mine from a friend of mine in AZ. He bought it from someone else not too long ago. It only had about 20,000 miles on it at most and I gave my friend $650 for it.
