Default New Tiny Tach!

For you first gen owners that don't already have a tach, Here is one for you!
I just talked to the guy from tinytach and he said they are coming out with a new diesel tiny tach that is BACKLIT !!!!!! And instead of the nonreplacable internal battery that can eventually go dead,They say after 5 years, will be a flash memory that requires only vehicle power. Effectivley making the tinytach last as long as the vehicle. They are 1.5" by 3".Here is a link to the site,http://www.tinytach.com/tinytach/diesel.php They do not list this new tach yet on the website. The guy i talked to said to call back in a couple weeks to order one. He said they would be about 20$ more than the current diesel Tinytach, which is priced at 65$. I will definatly be ordering one as soon as i can!

It is a transducer that bolts around one of the injector lines. Reads the pulses from the pump. several guys on DTR have them and all have said they have had good luck.

Us 1st gen guys have to do things alittle different because dodge wasen't nice enough to put a tach in standard in our trucks! haha I have never figured out why they didin't? I figured it was cheaper than 140$ for a isspro tach and 45$ for the wiring harness and 20$ for a mounting cup! I can't wait till i get the tach!!!

There are stock tach's for the first gens. The 91.5 and ups, at least.

They're dash-mounted and go on eBay for north of $200.

Yes, but they were not standard equipment, but a dealer installed option. They are pricey, last one i seen sell went for almost 400$ i think!!! everybody i talk too says they were not the greatest in the electrical dept, and that a aftermarket tach is the way to go.

Does any car company have a reputation for good wiring?

I've chased gremlins out of enough Toyotas, Honda's, Chevy's and Dodge's to not like any kind of wiring...
