So after breaking the output shat in my TF727 in the 89 and then tearing the teeth out of the front planetary gear I decided it was time to go all the way. I'm already running a Goerends converter and 300m Billet Input so the front of the tranny is in good shape. A quick call to Rick at A&A Transmissions got me set up! Just for your information A&A is the ONLY place in the country that sells the 300m shaft that will fit the TF7272's in the Non-Intercooled 1st generation Cummins. The part number is 22678HS and its a 17-7/16" 727 4x4 Shaft 1962-1975 Spline. He WILL need this info if you order one. When I talked to Rick he had made 5 and I got the 3rd one. This is NOT listed on the site or in the catalog. You must call them, I suggest talking to Rick. He is a great guy and knows the trannys VERY well!
The only con (if you consider it one) is that this shaft will not work with auto shift. You must run a manual valve body. This was not an issue with me because I have been running a reverse manual valve body for over a year now.
Anyway... On to the good stuff. PICS!!! You can see how beefy this shaft is compared to the stocker. I Would have took some detailed measurements and weights but I was rushing to get it over to my tranny builder so I could make the pull this weekend.
Here it is!

Next to the stocker, you can see how besides being made of a MUCH stronger metal then stock just the added beef makes it a better set-up

Next up was the planetary gear. The stock front gear is 4 gear aluminum setup. With a little bit of power and some wheel hop I managed to strip all the teeth right out of it. Rick hooked me up with a 5 gear all steel gear that will take ALOT more abuse then any aluminum gear could dream of. The part number for this is AA5S - 5 Pinion MOPAR Steel Front Planetary For 1962-1975 Spline.

Now I have a tranny that I feel will take just about anything I can toss at it!
