Are the variable gemotry turbos worth anything for aftermarket on our 1st gen's? I know the big problem is a way to control the vanes but a company is on the brink of selling a stand alone controller for the vgt turbos. If you can control the turbo would it be a decent upgrade? Id like to get some input from yall thanks.

Fleece is selling a controller, and they have wastegate actuators controlling them pretty well nowadays.

It's a fantastic upgrade.

Depends on your power goals. More than likely, by the time you pay the small fortune on the electrical magic controller, you would be able to get significantly more turbo with something like a good S300.

But the VGT is going to dominate in the spool-up and driveability department.

What do guys have HE351's up to? Over 400 HP on first gens? I know there's a few guys making good power with just the wastegated HE351's. I imagine that the VGT's have close to the same mass air flow, just better response.

Apparently one can make about as much power as an HX40.
