I tried the straaight pipe on my 3rd gen and it was entirely way too loud and sounded like crap.
I have run a few diffetent setups.
stock cat and AERO
Dual AEROs
and now single AERO
even with the single AERO its loud! but it sounds good at least.

I would like to go dual AEROs again. The sound overall was good

3rd gens are a totally different sound. I remeber when I first got my 03. Couldn't stand the exhaust tone. So fluttery and poppy, sounded like a 7.3L almost. But them old 12v, now thats a sweet sound. So clean, and deep. Just gives me a woody thinkin bout it.

I never owned a muffler till I bought my first 3rd gen.

Well its on the truck and I love it. My personal opinion is that it sounds better than my straight piped 93. I can not only feel a difference, the egt dropped right at 100 degrees at normal cruising speed. Plus it sounds cool when you come off the go pedal and when you cut it off.

I'll give you a cup of Brunswick stew if you find a way to post audio recordings...

Ok all you Aero turbine wannabes I'll see what I can do. This may take a couple of days......quality will be weak as my video only has MONO.

I must comment here:

Runamuk's truck sounds bitchen. I have rode in it a few times and at first I was skeptical, but after the first ride it grew on me, and I loved the sound.

Diesel Nut's straight piped 1st gen is my old truck, and man, that thing sounded bitchen. I wish I had the money to keep her and yet throw a 4" straight pipe exhaust on her.

Just my two sence, Aero sounds good on a 3rd gen as I have experienced, but a straight piped first gen- I cant say I have heard any sweeter exhaust.
