Default First Gen Boost

What kind of pressures can you push through a factory first gen turbo before it gets to stressful on the turbo?

Well, they say 18 - 24 psi for the old H1C. I might be crazy, but i get to almost 30 psi with mine if i get on it.

before the intercooler and the 60mm upgrade wheel i could just get 30, after the 60mm upgrade wheel i was pushen 45, now with the intercooler all i can get is 37, but the truck runs a heck of a lot better at 37 with the intercooler then 45 without it

That's some intense boost pressures through a first gen. how far can you crank the full power screw in before you approach runaway?

Different on every pump. Some bottom it out, some get only a couple turns. Go 1/2 a turn at a time, make sure your turbo inlet is un covered, and have a buddy stand by with a 2x6. After every 1/2 turn, snap the throttle to wide open and if it starts to run away get the 2.6 over the turbo inlet.

That's what i did the first time. Had the air cleaner tube off with a 2x8 ready to slap over it, but i only went about 1/2 a turn because all the places that i looked said it would runaway if you went much more than that.

Mine is not fully bottomed out. It is all the way in then backed out 5/8ths a turn. I have hit 27lbs before aswell.
