Default 1st Gens Suspension Wise

Compared to a second gen what changed ,

Would like to have a first gen actually found one dirt cheap a few years back CA i think that was MINT like 70,000 ORG miles for $4,500 I had no way to get it ,

After Messing with some rotary trucks I prefer the P Pump for High Power ,

We have a 1st gen that pulls around here but hes got a p pump on it ,

whats the difference in the suspension ?

as far as 4wd...not much really except the front axle is leaf sprung instead of coil sprung.

Its a completely different animal. First gens use a pair of leaf springs on top of a king pin style dana 60 with inner and outter wheel bearings and lock-out hubs. Steering is a push/pull style drag link. 2nd gens use a coil spring setup with upper and lower control arms(4 link) and a track bar. The axle is a drivers side diff that uses ball joints, sealed hub bearings and the axleshaft splined directly to the hubs. Steering is a crossover style with the draglink going almost to the passanger knuckle. The 2nd gen gives a better ride, but uses a lot of weaker components. 3rd gen aam axles are better than 2nd gen but still not as desirable as a king pin 60.
