Default Hole Shot

06 mega 4x4. I discussed here before about not being able to do a smoke show.OK Now i understand the factory defueling is the cause.I would still like some suggestions on how to get a good launch when i cant build enough boost. I dont race alot just sometimes with my 2 bro-inlaws.powerstrokes.They always get on my case about being slow out of the hole.I did get some good power from the only 2 mods iv'e done so far.Aero exaust and Hypertech Max Energy programmer.I was leaning towards the Edge Juice but went with the Hypertech because i could tow safely on the highest setting.Basicly more towing power.Did i make the right decision.By the way i get less smoke now then i had stock!

I would have a real hard time agreeing that the Hypertech is 'safer' than the Juice. The juice has many built in safety features. I am also not a fan of programmers vs boxes...

I ran the Juice on my past 2 trucks and absolutely loved them, towed daily (yes daily) on max setting and never had any issues, stock clutches always...

I sure cant say you made the 'wrong' decision since mine is only based on opinion, but I myself would always go with the Edge...

But honestly, you must still have some technique issues...Im not sure I buy the whole factory defueling thing...I can do a brakestand anytime anywhere and I am only running an Edge EZ at this time, exhaust and air, but im running 35" Toyos...

Mine too is an 06 Mega 4x4...and definately no 'hole shot' issues....

Something doesnt sound right on your truck....

I never had issues with burnouts on any of my gas trucks. Here's what happens when i try.Just enough brake so i cant move and as i press on the (gas pedal)the engine wont rev.Doesnt build up anything, the rpm's stay the same.I can put the pedal allthe way to the floor and it won't do a thing.I'm not sure what else i can do.Maybe i should have got the EDGE.My brother inlaw put it on his 03 psd and it really woke that truck up.But he can only tow on level 2.He said he doesn't really know if it helps him towing or not.My camper weighs about 6500lbs.so it's not real heavy but i want to be safe with the truck.Longhorn Are you towing very heavy on the max setting? If my truck has a issue what could it be?I liked the EDGE for the safety features also.I'm in the process of getting guages.HYPERTECH told me i didnt need them, but i think i need them. Thanks for the help guys. What is the differance in a BOX vs. PROGRAMMER?By the way when i first hooked up my programmer i had decent smoke out of it,than after a couple days it smokes less than when it was stock.Does this sound normal?

The ECM Brake Torque Management system is getting in the way and defueling your truck.

A "Box" plugs inline with your ECM and alters the data. A "Programmer" actually flashes the program to your ECM's memory.

Sounds like you Hypertech isn't working anymore. Flash the ECM back to stock and then reflash your Hypertech tune back in. Once thing you need to be really conscious of is when you are flashing in a new tune DO NOT ALLOW ANY CURRENT DRAW. IE...dome lights come on or off, door opens or closes, stereo running an amplifier, auto climate control..etc. If you have a significant current draw while loading a tune you have crash the ECM to where it cant be recovered.

I'll try your advice DangerousDuramax and change it back to stock and then reprogram it again. Is it ok to reprogram it right after i change it to stock,or should i drive it or wait or just do it. Thanks
