Default Clutch Or Not Enough Fuel?

My truck will stop pulling on levels 4 and 5 on the Edge sometimes. It feels like the clutch is slipping, but the rpms do not go up? Seems like it is in mid pull, not at the end of the RPMs. It didnt do it until I had run that tank of Bio. Im probably going to change the filters soon, but wondering if I need to upgrade the fueling. Its always felt like it is skipping at times on level 5.

You may try unplugging the Comp to see if it still does it. There are some bugs still being worked out in these boxes themselves. Sounds to me more like your truck is de-fueling early for some reason.

The Bio will give your truck system a good flushing though. You fuel pressure guage will tell you if the filter is a problem though, what's it reading during all of this.

Don't forget to fill out your signature sometime so we can see the details of your truck.

Never did hear the huntin stories either, how did it all turn out.

I meant to put this in the CR section... I have an 05 Dodge Quadcab 4x4 Cummins 6speed. I havent got any gauges, just the Attitude. I cant tell it is doing it on levels 0, 1 and 2. It doesnt do it all the time. I ran a Firebird Friday and it did fine.... He never pulled me after my 2-3 shift.

The hunting up there in Illinois was awesome. I didnt kill one, but my buddy shot a 21" 8pt. Not bad for your 1st buck with a bow! I passed on one about the same size the first afternoon and regretted it every day after. I didnt know it was that big until it got passed me.

You should fill your signature in with what all of the info on your truck and what mods you have done.

It sounds as if you are running out of fuel. There are potentially two problems. The first, and most common, is your lift pump fuel pressure. Having an 05 means yours is in the tank. Without enough supply, you CP3 (high pressure/injection pump) will not have enough fuel to supply the rail and keep enough fuel pressure to the injectors. The second is your CP3 just doesn't flow enough fuel to meet the requirements of your modules/programmer. The second only really happens above the 600 HP range. A fuel pressure and a rail pressure gauge on a CR Cummins are really good additions to the parameters your Attitude displays currently.

What direction should I go with an after market pump? Would it be an inline outside the tank to be used in conjunction with the stock one?

You could go that way but you still have the culprit in the mix. The best way to do it is to drill a new draw straw hole in the tank and add a FASS or the Walbro. Each will come with a new draw straw and full instructions. The only draw back I've heard was with a new straw, your truck has the ability to "run out" of fuel at 1/4 tank. You may want to do some searching or call each manufacturer to see if they have that problem fixed.

Have you checked for codes after it does it? I got a rail pressure code when I ran the Edge on level 5. Doesn't do it with the GDP Walbro pump in now.

I know most aren't fans, but I'm a fan of the GDP mechanical pump.

Another vote for fuel starvation. Throw a gauge on it and see. You'd smell a clutch..... WOW you'd smell a clutch. Clutch smoke is one of the worst smells. It smells about as bad as when you burn money, because its like burning 100 dollar bills
