Default Remote Start Woes

well I did some reading and made some phone calls.
I currently have remote start and get 2 codes every time I use it. waste gate code and a fan clutch code. those codes come up on the computer every time the starter is used.

I called all of the car audio type places around and most of them wont install remote starts on a diesel. and the ones that do don't recommend it.

I read the same on the web.

So I had my dealer take it out and put it in the inside of my truck.
The tech said there was some wires that were unhooked and poor connections. He said that was probably the cause of the codes. He then said he hasn't seen a remote start on a dodge diesel work correctly and it was a good idea to remove it.

the system was a valet remote start system. the dealer had a local shop check it out and the starter is fine it was just installed wrong. so I will see if I cant sell it some how.

just a FYI just in case anyone else experience this

I think they just didn't want to deal with the problem. The only difference between remote starting a gasser vs diesel is waiting on the glow plugs. Most of the current remote start systems are designed to work with modern diesel's. I have a Viper system and it came with the WTS and Tach wires. Beginning on 08 GM has started making remote start a factory option on diesels. Find a reputable shop that knows what they're doing and you'll love having it on your truck.

Ive had it for 2 years and have used it 6 times maybe. most of the time I forget I have it and I usually dont carry my keys in my pocket so the fob isn't handy.

no biggy I'm sure I can get something out of it.

I have one on my 2002 CTD and it worked ok until the FOB broke. My problem was leaving it in gear.

Are you asking yourself whether you will sell it or not?
