48re upgrade question

What is the difference between a shift kit ( Transgo, Superior ) and a reconditioning kit ( Sure Cure )? I need to know if i need one or both for an upgrade.

I'm no expert but I got the transgo and the guy who put it in said it's pretty much like a upgraded valvebody. That bout all I know.
