Question Info on superchips cortex

I am trying to find out if the cortex tuner has any safe guards built into it so that engine will defuel when EGTs get too high. I am running it on tow mode. is this a sfe setting to run on till I get guages installed?

any superchips programmer use very mild tuning, they shouldnt hurt a thing, I dont know anything about the tuning other than it is very basic, the power gains are small, with just a flash programmer they do not have the ability to "defuel" for egt's or overboost etc, they dont work that way

A flash programmer(like the cortex) flash a modified version of the ECM programming over the stock programming, allowing for more commanded fuel, timing, boost etc, they dont have the abilities to monitor and defuel for EGT's, stock trucks do not have pyrometers for monitoring EGT's so there is no way for the ECM to know what the EGT's are, hence the programming cannot compensate for excess fueling/timing

If you want a power adder that can "defuel" then i suggest an Inline tuner box such as an EDGE, they monitor many parameters of engine function and can defuel for a number of different things

IMHO, get rid of the superchips, get a Smarty Jr. and get gauges!

those three sound about right, as for brand, I would go with Isspro or Autometer
