Can you guys give me pro's and con's on a Hypertech Max Energy Tuner? Or, something that will give me a choice between towing my camper or economy without it. Looking for better mileage and performance.

From what I've read so far the Hpertech may be the way to go. I am completely stock with the exception of an Injen Air Intake System. Thanks

Smarty Jr would work the best for you and your setup.

I know absolutely nothing about programmers. A friend with me told me he bought one and it increased his mileage even towing his 8000 lb boat. I read all the stuff on the Smarty Jr. but I may as well try to read Greek. I know nothing of all the initials and acronyms used. That's why I came on here to get some opinions. Thanks to those that have replied thus far. Looking for more to chime in and let me know what's what.

Three different performance levels: 40 / 70 / 100 hp

Improved fuel economy

Optimized drivability

Fastest download in the industry, up to three times faster than
the competition, a typical ECM update takes about 3.5 to 5
minutes, depending on the truck model

ABS tire height updates in just few seconds from 22,5" to 44"

Not traceable in the stock setting. Smarty leaves no footprint

Manual High-Idle is enabled in all softwares

Reads Diagnostic Trouble Codes in plain text

No tools required, no fuses to pull

USB built in for simple updates from internet

Easy installation

Reliable, it works off your OEM hardware

Now with the Power on Demand function!!!

thats what it will do, ask any question you have and we will be glad to answer it.

if/when i get a third gen, i will be putting a jr on it asap. if not the sr. it makes the all around driveability 10 times better. the 70 horse tune seems to be safe pulling a trailer. my boss is doing it with his stock auto with the jr on the 70 horse setting.

How much is it going to run me?
Will you tell me how to download it to my truck? And any other instructions?
I'm not a diesel mechanic by any stretch of the imagination. I was told to buy the Injen Cold Air Intake and it would increase performance.
Now I find out the cold air intake is not doing anything without having a programmer!
I can follow instruction though. LOL

If you are going to start to play with programmer and stuff.
Make sure you put in a set of gauges
trans temp boost and egt
if you don't install gauge you are looking for trouble.
trust me i have been there and it cost me a motor
And yes smarty jr the way to go
that what i run now
I run on the 70hp and default setting
