Default What size tire will fit

I have a 2003 dodge 2500 laramie 4x4 that is not lifted. What is the biggest size tires that will fit without lifting it? I am thing about getting a 285/75/17 or a 295/70/17 in the toyo open country MT, will one of these fit without rubbing? which one? if not which size will? I currently am running 285/70/17 BFG AT.

You'll be fine. I think I answered your question on Diesel Power's forum, too.

i have also been wondering this. guy i work with says that there is no possible way i can get 35's or 315/70/R17's on my stock 06. he has them on a 04 ram 2500 with the hemi and says that with the extra weight of the cummins the front sits too low. i hear its possible tho?

I'm running BFG TA/KO's on my '06 2500 in 285/70-17 on stock wheels with Bushwacker flares and no problems.

Stock tires are roughly 31 to 32 inches tall, so putting a 35 on isn't that big of a deal, you just need to know it might rub when you turn the steering wheel to full lock. It's better to put a 2 inch leveling kit on, but any weight you put on the rear of the truck will make it look nose high.

You can put 315's on, but they will rub guaranteed because they're a bit wider.

Sizes are all in metric (millimeters) for the first two numbers so do the math and it helps:

315/70-17

The wheel is 17 inches. The tread face of the tire is 315mm, the sidewall between the rim and tread face is 70% of the tread face (315 times 0.7) or 220.5mm. Convert it all over to inches ....

315 is 12.4 inches.
220.5 is 8.6811 inches.
Tire height is 34.3622 inches.

I'd recommend that you stay away from the wider tires because they do rub, so a 305/70-17 would be a better choice.

Without appearing to thread jack, what is the widest tire you can fit on a third gen dually without mods, ie...spacers? was thinking of 295/70/17 or maybe 305

i know you can fit 285/70/17's so the 295's shouldnt be a problem. no spacer needed. you probably already know that the 285 is just shy of a 33 and the 295 is just over a 33, but i was just throwin that in.

Not sure about the rears, but a 295 should work fine up front on the DRW trucks. Your wheels and hubs are slightly different on the duallys so there is a bit more room than on the SRW trucks.

IMO, I wouldn't go wider than 305's due to all the death wobble problems.

I know this thread is old but I just wanted to state that I went with 33\12.5\17s on the rear of the dually with beautiful 2" billet aluminum spacers and love it.
