Default Looking for a new turbo

I'm looking at an II silver bullet and have heard they are hard to spool up. I was just wondering what yall have run and like. Is this turbo to big? I want to get it right the first time, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm running II Thunder 330 turbo and I love it, easy to spool, manages heat a lot better then my sticker did, carries 40+ lbs all day, and darn near eliminated all of my black smoke just a slight haze at WOT...So thats my two cents

Sorry I should've said what I have and what I want. Bombs so far s&b intake, CFM +, Dr.P, Smarty S06, South Bend DD Street, and str8t 4" ext. I'm lookin at the II silver 66mm, I'd like to do the turbo head studs and ext. manifold at the same time, then injectors and smarty TNT, also have an AD-165 ready to install.

This decision also depends on your goals hp-wise. A silver 62 will provide enough air to support 600hp efficiently and spool will be much quicker. The 66 is a beast top-end and can support 750hp efficiently. EGT's become an issue at highway speeds while towing though. The 64 is somewhat of a happy medium with the right injectors. Just depends on your specific goals and what you use your truck for.

What constitutes as a happy medium? I tow a little but can do it with another truck. this is where I'm stuck between pulling or hp, but if it comes down to the bottom line I'm about hp, Like everyone else here I want an all around truck, I've looked into compounds also, I'd like a truck that runs good on the street and tows decent at the same time.

Ok but what twins a 62 over K31 or a 66 over a big brother, I know it all goes down to what you are going to do with your truck, I would like for mine to run hard and push high Hp and tow light on the side.

I have a 62 over a s475 and love it, 80 psi of boost on tap and I have no egt issues towing my gooseneck horse trailers. 150 sticks also.

Yeah the 62/s475 setup seem to be pretty bulletproof. Quick spool (w/ the right injectors) and a much broader MAP range than a single. Basically, the ultimate work/play setup(if you can spend the $$$...) This is the setup I'll be g going with on my next rig.

Honestly, if you're not towing heavy the 66 would work great with 120's to 150's. I just consider the 64 somewhat of a happy medium because I've seen and felt spool time on II's 62's, 64's and 66's. My 62(though not a silver series) spools almost like stock. 66's feel much laggier low end. The 64 falls right in between. Pushes more air than a 62, while spooling faster than a 66.
