Yes, but why make smoke? What is the purpose other than polluting the others around you?

Smoke is the preparation to power.
If you need power you need 2 things: fuel and air.Lots of air!
The bad thing is in that moment the pedal hits the floor fuel is injected- more than enough- smoke develops because of the lack of air.

An aftermarket turbocharger with a huge pressure build up or high flow needs a certain time to spool up to deliver that air. The bad thing is that diesel start to smoke at least at 18:1.

So you need a matched turbo or fuel injection. Tuners like the smarty work with overfuelling. Get a proper turbocharger ($$$) and smoke will be gone.

So smoke shows a mismatched turbo/fuelinjection and some think it's cool.
I wouldn't worry about it as long as tires are burned in africa and china on a daily basis.

ppe works the best on 03/04 trucks much better then smarty or bullydog on those trucks, also ppe horse power numbers are flywheel everyone elses numbers are to the rear wheels thats why ppe's numbers are so high. If you only have 3 stages then you just have the standard version, you can get it updated, to have more stages and power, but you have to pay to get it down and depending on how high of power level you want you might have to send it in to ppe to get it done.

Back to the op, the edge is a decent chip, but power wise wont touch smarty or bullydog, and i have also seen alot of problems with edge chips because they plug into so many different locations, and have loose wires in there harness all the time causing alot of problems. I havent run the adren on a common rail yet, so cant give any feedback for that one but smarty and download tnt, or bully dog and download the larry files for it.

I don't know alot about cummins but my brother has a 99 24v and he just put a quad adr on it and it has a ton of power and smoke, he has been happy with it and it is on the fly ajustment which is nice. That would be my vote.

quad adrenaline an a vp truck (98.5-02) are probably the best out there, but on a common rail (03+) is alot different.

I have my Adrenaline installed and so far I love it! I still need to spend some time tuning and such but I think I made the right choice for my needs.
