If you don't have a lift pump already in the tank, the AirDog-100 can use the stock pick-up in the tank.
The AirDog-150 and 165 requires the use of a draw straw by either dropping the tank or removing the bed to gain access to the tank.
The sending unit is then removed and a coffee can or something can be inserted to catch the shavings from the hole that needs to be drilled in the top of the tank for the draw straw.
According to AirDog, if you already have a lift pump in the tank, a draw straw MUST be used if you upgrade to one of their pumps or another performance pump as the in-tank lift pump will not allow fuel to be pulled through it.
Just like the stock lift pump on your filter canister won't allow your truck to run now. It's dead and it won't allow the CP3 injection pump to draw fuel through it. If that dead lift pump wasn't there, your truck would run. The GM DuraMax engines use the same CP3 injection pumps as your Cummins but dI beleive they don't use a lift pump at all.
