Default Boost Fooler helping 48RE?!?

So I got my new truck and could feel that the auto trans was getting sloppy at 72k. Not really slipping, but allowing more slip than I would like. I decided that I would use my tax return to deal with the trans and figured that I would throw on my Quadzilla Boost Fooler now anyway. Well low and behold, the trans is shifting crisper! Not like a built trans, mind you, but like it did new. Not bad for an original trans with 72k on it. Needless to say, I'm happy! Maybe I'll just do a TC and VB this spring...

Now the question: Any guesses on why that is? Could it be that the trans is starting to "learn" my driving style now that I've owned it a few days or is the Fooler making the line pressure higher? What do you guys think?

72k miles is nothing for that tranny, assuming it was properly serviced and operated during that time.

I don't see how a boost fooler could affect the transmission in any way whatsoever.

Yeah i agree a boost fooler has nothing to do with the trans! Probably the old runs great before it totally fails!

Ha! Probably... Like I said, it didn't feel like it was on it's way out, just starting to get sloppy. Especially notice it in town, in traffic. It just doesn't feel as crisp as it should... I agree about the boost fooler having nothing to do with the trans (and maybe I was expecting it to slip, so now that it's not I think it's better) but something happened! The only thing I can think of is the boost fooler is causing another sensor to read different. That sensor happens to be read by the TCM as well, causing it to shift slightly more aggressive.

What year did they implement "tow/haul" mode?

I have tow/haul mode, but I have no idea what it actually does or if it hurts anything to run it in tow/haul all the time. I was going to do a new thread for that but since you brought it up...

It won't hurt anything, but it raises line pressure to delay shift points a bit for firmer shifts and forces earlier downshifts to benefit towing performance. Seems like maybe you are just running in T/H mode from the sounds of it, dunno.

T/H mode is off. I used it the first day then figured I should ask on here before I continued to use it...
