Default Billet input

How difficult is it to install a billet input in a 48re when i drop it to put in a billet converter? Just curious to see if i can perform brain surgery with a machete! And also if i am going to do this what other little things can i do also while it is down and out.(hd band strut and anchor, billet servo cover?) I just can't spend the money right now on a full billet. But i figure if there are some small things that i could do until i burn up the stock clutches. Then my old lady will have to forsee have the tranny rebuilt.

Ooooh! I would like to know this too. My 48RE has a fresh stock rebuild on it, so I don't want to do a full rebuild, but it would be good to know what I can do myself on top of a VB and TC.

Some things in life are just worth paying someone else to do!! Besides removing the pump it's not to bad but a pain in the butt! If you go to Goerends website he has a few videos on how to do it! You didn't mention a VB I hope you already have it or are putting it in at the same time?! Without it you WILL smoke your tranny! Have fun!

Billet input requires removal of the pump, front band, front and rear clutches. Next, you have to unstack the rear clutch, then reassemble it on the new input, then reassemble the front half of the main case. I would HIGHLY recommend at that time doing a full faced front band in high energy material and a HD strut.
Now, like posted, what are you doing VB wise to keep it alive?

I was going to purchase a valvebody from the same manufacter as the torque converter more than likey suncoast.I did purchase a transgo shift kit but i think i'm going to sell it.I just figured i do a valvebody, torque converter swap that i could install a billet input.I had also thought about buying a rebuild kit from suncoast.I have searched but i could not find out how to improve the oil ports to the overdribe section?I'm really trying to save a buck.
