Default foot print?

does BD leave a foot print on the computer?

My buddy is looking for some more juice from his 05.

He likes my diablo predator tuner but it takes to long to switch programs.
he might do a stack with a predator and puck and get a little on the fly with the puck.
the diablo tuner is untracable and thats Why I got mine.

but he wants some gauges and figured he would get the BD Trip dog with the outlook for gauges
or the edge with the attitude monitor

but he bought and extended warranty and wants to hide as much as possible.

he also needs gauges so the BD or edge systems would eliminate that.

do any of you use the outlook monitor or the attitude monitor just for gauges and dont have the BD system or edge?

I need gauges some day myself and would like one of those monitors instead of a pillar with a couple gauges and a lot of wireing.

I guess Im asking what box and what gauges or monitor.
The quad comander looks nice as well

ANY tunner leaves some trace that it was there, if the engineer wants to look deep enough fer it, he'll find it.

Agreed, I've heard they all leave a foot print.

As a side note, my father had a predator chip set on his 05' and never had a problem with two warranty issues. He did disconnect and remove the predator and was never questioned about it.

Maybe they didn't care, maybe they didn't look, maybe it didn't leave a foot print they could see. Just my $.02.....

Chips are different than programmers. I'm not familiar with all types but basically If it plugs into your PCM it will leave evidence. I had a quadzilla chip that was no where near the PCM and there was no evidence i had it once i unplugged it.

As long as the stock flash is reinstalled there is no way to tell that the ECM has seen any changes. The only way for even a service tech to tell that something has changed is to look for things such as EGR sensor resistance rates at higher RPM's or main injection pulse width timing out of factory specs. When the stock tune is flashed back in there is no evidence of change. The firmware of an auto manufacturer's ECM cannot log changed data and is subject to the Privacy Act 1974. Currently the wonderful EPA is trying to get that changed.

Here is the problem with warranty and all in one systems (edge attitude, BD Outlook) - they don't work without the chip!

So, if you are going to remove the chip, you are going to bring in a truck with either a pyro lead that goes nowhere, or a pipe plug in the manifold, providing you can get the pyro fitting back out. Either way, dead giveaway.

If he really needs to hide it best as he can, get the triple dog and analog gauges. Leave the gauges in when it goes in for service and remove the triple dog. BTW - The Triple Dog is adjustable on the fly by itself as long as the tuner is plugged into the OBDII port.

Its a computer, there is a history of everything and if you think otherwise, you've been misinformed.
Bring me your laptop or desktop comp. and I'll dig up some stuff you thought you deleted.

yes anything can be pulled. all they really need to do is match key hours with idle hours and stuff like that and they can tell something was done. They can also look at sensor history.

just some are better than others

No sir, you've been misinformed. We are talking about an ECM not a laptop. Your not understanding how an ECM works but I can show you with EFI Live and MY ECM since I my own tunes. BTW- if you think you can find anything on my laptop that has been deleted your mistaken. I can write and manipulate code with the best of 'em and am well aware of how to keep my machine's secure and clean.
