cummins smoke
#21
Oh I love these threads.
Black smoke is lost power, unburned fuel, and generates high EGT's. It makes diesel engines look bad, and in turn makes us look bad because we own them.
It also can damage your engine and transmission to the point that it would be cheaper to buy another truck than it would be to repair it.
I hope someone can teach you about making clean power with a diesel.

I agree with the above statement......Some idiot in my town thought it was funny to go ahead and smoke a lady in a converterable...Well the outcome of that was that she had a ruined interior ruined cloths a screwed up paint job, and top it off there is a law passed in my area that if your truck blows black smoke you're getting fined....... and now I can't go into Farmington Missouri without me getting harassed because my truck isn't like all the other punk kids in town because mine hazes at an idle................

another thing to remember is that these common rail diesels just don't inject fuel and it goes boom. It's injects the fuel multiple times in one cycle thus results in muliple booms which results in a cleaner burn and ultimately.....less smoke...
