I want it to smoke just to say that it can. I don't know. My inner child? Fascination with trains? Maybe cuz my daddy worked in a coal mine?

No, seriously, I have no idea. Is it silly to do that? Sure...but I still want it to. It's a little redneckish, but hell...so are stacks and everyone loves those...

Please re-think the smoke issue. Our main black eye we get at diesel events is spectators driving crazy whilst drinking AND smoking the streets with a lead foot around JOHN Q PUBLIC. Some events are getting moved or cancelled. The less we act with responsibility the less JOHN Q will tolerate. Look at jetskiers- They are fun but everyone from fishermen to swimmers to campers to Game wardens don't like them at all at the lake. It is all being driven by the irresponsibility of a few- and ruins it for the rest of us and I guarantee you- It could happen to us next. If we act like we are serious as diesel operators in a professional manner- they (JOHN Q) will treat us professionally. If we act irresponsibly- they will enact laws to restrict us. We have a lot to gain with diesels- power, efficiency, etc the list goes on and on. But most non-believers just think of the smoke and the smell. Oh ya- I'm not a stick in the mud- I've gone 170 on a motorcycle- raced numerous different types of vehicles, street raced, ran from cops (oops!), had hemi's big blocks nitrous,nitro-methane . Just lets dont give diesels a black eye.

9 times out of 10, it'll send a MAP too low or too high voltage code, and you'll end up in limp mode. If your miles from a town, it'll suck cause the only way to clear the code is with a scanner or a programmer.

Adjustable smoke that you can turn on or off is a good thing. Fueling/tuner boxes are the trick. That's the advantage of electronically controlled trucks, we can play when we want to.

OK...so back to the programmer thing...why the hell won't it smoke? The cat? Stock muffler?

Yup...you were right. Got the stock off and she smokes. Only in the highest setting (Extreme) though. Dunno.

The cat is probably a BIG part of your "no smoke" dilemma. The cats on diesels nowadays are designed to reduce or eliminate odor and soot (smoke).

what kind of tuner. i have a bullydog triple dog and i had v2.4.3 and i updated and the updated version wouldnt work on my turck.so it may be the version on your programmer. i have an 04 3500 btw.and i had a stock exhaust for a while and it still smoked pretty heavily. i didnt have a cat either.

I have a triple dog too. I don't know the version...I updated it a couple months ago, so I wonder if it's the newest. It does on Extreme, but not too much on performance or tow. I add a Donaldson muffler to it, too, so that might be a reason as well...??....dunno.
