Be carefull with this chip idea. Hate to see ya drop that stock tranny out the bottom of the truck. Any chip you get is gonna put a strain on it and no towin with the chip turned on untill you get it beefed up. You will definatley need something adjustable.

The Quadzilla and Comp are my two favorites with Comp being number 1 for high end power/speed.

For low end pulling power it is the Smarty.

The advantage of the Comp over the Smarty is also shift on the fly capability, but they are all good choices. Just have to pick the one that fit's your driving needs.

It really depends on what you want to do and how much $$$$ you want to spend. If your on a tight budjet I like the Quadzilla. The Edge with Attitude is a great combo. Don't forget about the Smarty. If you have the $$$ The Edge with Attitude gives you a power increase as well as gauges to keep an eye on your truck which is a must with a aftermarket chip. Let me know If I can help.

Thanks for your input on the money thing I do not have alot to burn but I may have enough lets say 400 that kinda limits it .....

luke(anyone) do you know anything about this programmer: Diablosport Predator Programmer 2003-2005 Dodge Cummins diesel Part# U7130
would I be better off with aprogrammer or a selectable "chip"
And how much HP can I run with the stock trans? I was thinking 100hp more tops but I don't know with the price range what can I expect to find and what would be the best option??(I guess is what I'am say) and how about a used one??? there are so many its hard to say I have looked at a lot of sig's tosee what everyone else is running I have friends who run the edge with a monitor but I cannot put 7-800$ into it right now.

If your workin on money restrictions like most of the rest of us. Don't go the chip route yet. Once you add that HP other problems come up around it. Fix the supporting issues first and then add the HP. Tranny beefed up, less restrictive then stock exhaust and guages. Once you get the chip Exhaust Gas Temps are gonna be a problem and that's why you need guages ASAP once you do that to monitor heat and a new exahust to help move the heat out of the truck. Your tranny will be on it's way out the first time you use that chip. It may go fast or slow, but it will only be a matter of time after that.

Keep your money in your pocket and spend it on gauges and a lift pump first. You can thank me later...

No, really. A dodge with out a real lift pump and a fuel pressure gauge is a problem waiting to happen. Add a programmer to that mix and it just makes it happen faster.

If you must, EDGE and Smarty are my fav's. Both for different reasons though.

How about the diablo power puck? Seems like it can be gotten for ~$160. And being adjustable from stock to 60hp to 100hp. I think that's the one I want to get.

Power puck is a great idea. They run well, and can be stacked withe the Predator tuner later on. For the price, you really can't go wrong with one of those, or the Quadzilla. Bang for buck is good with these 2.

Just remember - more power = need gauges. Keep that in mind.

Personally, I would do a Valve Body in the transmission first thing. Even with stock power it will help that thing live longer. I recommend using HTS for this.

Next I would look at either a 4" exhasust system, or sending the cat to the pound and maybe helping the muffler disapear. An aftermarket muffler will flow much better, and still be reasonable on sound. Add a 4" downpipe and you have a 4" system turbo back for about half price.

I run the Diablosport Power Puck and Predator. I have a stock fuel system and made the numbers in my sig and still had 5psi of fuel pressure. I do have a better turbo but guys with stock turbos are laying down 430hp. Your stock trans will not live long as this combo is awesome. Currently I am running just the Puck while I get some issues worked out with the Predator...Not nearly the power but still a nice boost nonetheless......
