Talking Got my new clutch installed today...

Since I sit in lots of traffic I opted for the South Bend Con OFE. It's rated for around 450hp which is right where I think I am powerwise. I probably should have gotten the FE but didn't want to deal with the hard pedal. This one was a bit stiff at first but it seems fine right now. I haven't really gotten into it yet as I am breaking it in but tomorrow I will test it out properly. The trans seems to shift a bit smoother but there is also a tiny bit of extra vibration from the solid flywheel but that's no big deal. It's a truck!!!

Tim Barber of TRE Diesel Perf in Va Beach did the install and he's a top notch guy. Anybody that knows him can tell you that. He's got an 06 that made 749hp with a single charger and he has since put twins on it. He'll be on the dyno in two weeks when i will be spinning the rollers also.

I'm happy......

Ha Ha!! No Thanks!!!

I love driving my 6-speed but this truck is definitely not as easy to have "Fun" with. I'm just trying to find a nice strong combo that is reliable. I think this is it. If my stock LP can keep up than I think I'm done now. If not then I will be getting a better one. Powerwise I am extremely happy.

Unfortunately yesterday while cruising down the highway at 70 mph to get the clutch done I experienced the bucking/jerking issue with the Predator. I slowed down to where it smoothed out and had no more issues for the remaining 250 miles of my trip. It threw a CEL but when I went to clear the codes it could not find any. Strange indeed......

As I said, I'm not going for crazy power this time. The Predator makes more power than I need so I will keep it for now.
I have noticed that as I am breaking the clutch in that it is getting a bit notchy upon takeoff. I'll have to get used to that..... It definitely holds the power though..

Yup. 450hp is enough for me. I really like the new truck but it's just not the same BOMBing a manual trans truck. The clutch is getting grabbier all the time too. I hope it doesn't get any worse. My leg is getting tired........

Did you update your combo on the net? If you did that might be what caused the problem. They have not yet solved this problem, to the best of my knowledge. I have the combo sitting in my room, just waiting to find out about the antifreeze in oil issue before it goes on. I also am going to need a stronger clutch, but I am going SBC DD.
