Default High Flow Muffler for a 2004

Anybody got any ideas for a muffler swap on an 04 Dodge Cummins. Looking at my truck I would swear I've got a 4" exhaust, but after reading numerous threads one here, it should have a 3.5" exhaust. It's got a build date of 4th Quarter 03. Anyway, I'm looking to just swap the muffler for a good performance model and don't want to straight pipe it as I routinely drive 900 mile trips twice every 6 weeks - need to hear my Sirius Sat Radio. Any help would be much appreciated.

It is an 04 (build date is last quarter of 03), but it's got a 4" stock original exhaust system on it with no cat. I've got some sort of half-breed, mutt of a truck. When I originally bought the truck, I had trouble registering it because the VIN didn't compute as an 04. The other thing I've been told is it is basically a 3500 series but is listed as a 2500. I've got one ton springs on the thing. I'm thinking that as it came down the assembly line it was put together with a mix/match of parts before they switched over to the 04.5's. Damned if I know? Anyway, about my muffler question.....

Seriously, an tips, pointers, "I wouldn't do that if I were you"'s would be greatly appreciated.

donaldson makes a great muffler that sounds very good but makes the cab interior very nice. heres a vid of a guy with the 4" donaldson muffler through a stack. its a very tame muffler

I used a 30" Magnaflow on mine...no drone and I routinely travel cross country as well.

And that's with a setup similar to yours...4" pipe with only a muffler (no cat).

Your down pipe is 3.5', but the rest of the exhaust is 4".
