Default Smarty POD Rocks

I met Marco over this last weekend, played on the dyno a little, and installed the new Smarty POD on my truck! Marco is a great guy, and that POD; WOW, is it nice. I get to keep my TNT/R turned up and ready to go without excessive smoke!

I've had some unfortunate experiences lately where I've had my Smarty turned down to something like 3... but really wished I had it on 9. Now, I can!

I really like the fact that I can cruise around, and bump it down to around 22 to 30 on the freeway- hopefully that might net a little better mpg. I did drive from Riverdale back to Riverside with the firm intention of testing the mpg. Unfortunately, I met another Dodge (Nice truck: Lift, edge sticker, and great exhaust) on the road going over the Tehachapi grade and decided to "play" a litle. I was up to setting 99 in two clicks of a button and push of the throttle!

It was great weekend, and worth the trip! THANKS MARCO!!!!

Being a newby to the dodge truck and tuning I'll have to ask this question. What is the Smarty Pod and how does it differ from the Smarty? Hell, I guess I'll have to start at the beginning, what is a Smarty and how does it work? I've heard of guys piggy backing it, piggy backing it to what. I've only used the Edge attitude on my Ford so I don't know to much about the tuning.

Thanks

Smarty is the standard programming box, and the Power On Demand (POD) is an update (if you bought the Smarty already, or an option if you buy a new one.

The Smarty is a downloader that overwrites the ECM's program (like the Bullydog Triple Dog or PMT). Usually, people will stack a downloader with a box. The box fools the truck's ECm, or affects something else about the engine. Usually the box makes up for some kind of shortage that the ECM/downloader can't or doesn't affect.

The new thing about the POD is that it makes the tune adjustable. Two button pushes and two throttle pushes, and you can go from a low, smokeless power setting to top power. Previously, the Smarty downloader took about 3-5 minutes to download a new power setting, now it is on the fly.

Believe you have to send yours in so they can update it. But it's still better than paying $800 for a new box.
