Boost Fooler.....First impressions.
I ordered my Quadzilla Boost Fooler from Thoroughbred Diesel....Price was right: $67.99 on sale, shipped free.
Truck is a 2006 2500 HD Mega Cab 4X4 automatic. Mods: K&N cold air intake. Tuner is a PPE Xcelerator set on stage 2 (+155 HP and +235 Ft Lbs claimed)
Install: It took longer for me to drag out the step stool than to plug in the unit. Add 2.5 seconds to secure unit with zip-tie (not included).
Right from the start, it seemed like the turbo spooled up way faster right off idle. It kinda makes me wonder if the wastgate isn't normally open at idle (and right above idle) so boost isn't immediately available from a dead stop. (gotta keep those warranty claims to a minimum, right DC??) My highly tuned Azz-Dyno told me that the truck was running better at low speeds and at lower throttle settings.
Once out of city limits, I poured the "Liquid Chicken" to her. The truck seemed to run a good bit crisper (more responsive corner to corner, and from off throttle to on throttle), and the turbo note was definitely several octaves higher than before. I dont have a boost gauge yet, so I can't say exactly how many psi were added.......
I DO have a newly-installed pyro (TC located between #3 and #4 on top of the manifold), and the results were promising. Before, (empty) I could hog on it enough to make the EGTs climb to nearly 1400. Now, the EGTs quickly climb to 1200 and STAY THERE. So far, the device seems to work as advertised. It may not be quite a 200 degree drop in EGTs, but it's darn close. Well worth the $$ in my opinion.

My biological father lives in Brookfield. I still have my Quaker Steak and Lube glass....I worked for SST Express in Columbus (off of Alum Creek Drive). Father-in-law retired from LTV/Warren Steel. Small world huh??
