Default Transmission Options

Howdy guys!

So I'm convinced my '05 transmission in on her last leg...I have started looking around and pricing my options for when the time comes! Just wondering what every body else has done or recommends!

I have priced 2 Replacement aftermarket Transmissions that both are the company's "Stage 1 aftermarket option" (With the core charge) and they will be about 6,500 before I get the core back...so as of right now that is out of the question...

However, I was on XDP and they have an ATS Rebuild kit for 500 or 700 (options depending) and was wondering if that would be ok?

Also I think it's my Torque Converter that is starting to go bad specifically, so what about JUST replacing that for now with an aftermarket one? Shifting up seems fine, it's just when the TC locks up it seems to hesitate and feather itself in...makes me wince and cringe every time!

My plans with the truck are Towing up to 10,000lbs and maybe a weekend sled puller in the stock turbo class! (And if I do that it wont be very often...She's still my daily driver!) And my Ultimate HP goal is 500!

Anyway thanks for the advice! Have a good one!

My trucks at the shop right now getting a new 48re put in- shop around. Everyone swears by goerends parts- they will take a couple weeks to get a hold of and if put in by a certified shop will be bigger $$. I have a well credited shop putting mine in with parts I asked for offering 3 yr 100k warranty. You will want billet flex plate, input shaft, triple disc converter, and hd bands/internals. My shop is modifying valve body and adding transgo shift kit along with everything else beefed up. If you want to do it yourself shoot ltz a pm/email- he has parts in the for sale section on home page. He has some good parts cheaper than other sites and is knowledgable. Do it once and do it right!
