Default Tuner or clutch???

Thinkin about gettin a tuner here soon (opinions on the edge Evo ht would be rad) but not sure if I should get a DD clutch first?
I'm lookin to add on after the tuner so I'll definitely need one either way. Just not sure if I need one before a tune? Thoughts please??
For those who don't know: she's an 06 with the g56. She won't tow much but much power is in her future.

you will need a clutch if you add power. stock g56 are weak even at stock levels. thanks tony from mighty diesel

dont get edge, get EFI live. edge runs hotter and EFI live is the best you can get. guys with older trucks have even changed over there ecm just so they can get EFI live. yes you will need to get a clutch. valair or a south bend would be a good clutch to go with. get the clutch first, so if you get EFI live then you can run it on the top setting with out slipping the clutch and that way your tuner can get a correct data log.

Well I'm sorta budgeted. I'll be lucky if I could afford 450 after I get a clutch. Will the tranny hold up?

will the tranny hold up if you get a programmer? yes, but the clutch wont. since you are on a budget you could get the clutch first, then save for EFI. what i would do is set the money aside for the clutch or EFI, then save for the other and have them installed at the same time. that way you are not tempted to use the programmer with the stock clutch and risk ruining it. also you are not put any wear on your brand new clutch for no reason, even though its only for 5000 miles or whatever it would be, thats 5000 more miles you will have not wasted on the clutch for no reason. just my .02

Makes plenty of sense. But. Wait. They're good for more than 5000 miles right?

I'll tell you from my ongoing problem get a clutch first! I have an nv4500 so obviously a weak clutch to begin with but when you consider I bought a fuel system, injectors, and a smarty ssr. That's a lot of money and power I can't use until I get the clutch. Get something rated for a lot more power than you plan to make and just keep making upgrades as you go along and so when your making enough power. My clutch slips at just 24psi with the power adders, I have the close to stock tune with a little bit more timing and duration and rail pressure and that's all she can handle.
