Default Programmer advice/upgrading from a Banks 6-gun

Hey guys, I have an 07 5.9 that I have owned since new, it has 110,000 miles on it, and need advice as to buying a programmer. I have heard great things about smarty but have no experience with it. The truck has some upgrades, with 1,500 miles on the truck I installed the Banks power pack total system. It does great and had no problems until the programmer went out at about 100,000 miles. So to keep from buying the same programmer, with the very tough install on those 6 gun tuners, I thought it would be great to get something easier to install. I seldom would run the truck on the speed loader setting or 7, I run around 95% of the time on 4. I pull heavy loads, 32' gooseneck trailer, loads up to and over 15,000 lbs plus weight of the trailer. I have weighed as much as 37,500 all together. I average around 26 tho and drive trips as far as 400 to 500 miles. Also installed is a centerforce dual friction clutch/flywheel assembly. So with all that stuff said, I need to figure out how to use a smarty, or if I should even go with a smarty, and which one to get. I don't even know how to use one, never even seen one. Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Smarty's are very easy to use I think my grandmother could figure it out. For CR trucks, Smarty seems to be the second best now that EFI live is coming out. Also many people run Edge. Someone whose run both an edge and smarty will chime in soon I would think.

LoL my grandmother cooks cookies and is not mechanically or electrically inclined, which programmer is safest would you say? I am not looking to race mustangs, I am just looking to get the safest amount of power I can that will work for hours and hours, while not overheating the engine egts.

Safest, I don't know I've had a Smarty on my VP truck since I've owned it and now issues. I don't know much about the other programmers.

Do you have shift on the fly capability, or do you have to stop and upload a new program to the ecu every time?

The s pod smarty you can change on the fly. I have run the smarty on my truck since I bought it in 06. What do you mean by safe? Safe as in i have not had an failures that I didn't cause? There is no egt back down or any thing, it just fuels and goes.

I have an 04.5 as soon as efi live is out for mine that's what I'll be getting. A shop can put it on a dyno and custom tune it for what you have and can load you with five custom tunes all of your own.

slightlymodded who makes the efi live, and why is it so popular? Is there a shop that you recommend?

Not sure on who makes it. Efi live is completely customizable. They can write a tune for your exact truck and the parts you have. I think they. Can set you up with five tunes. Say you want a mpg tune and a race tune or what ever really.
It is out for the 06-07 5.9 but both the early 5.9s yet

I live in Texas so the only one Ive been to that does Efi live is Truck Source Diesel.
You can call around I'm sure there are a lot of shops that can tune it.
