Thumbs up Oil change????

I have a new 07 CTD with 4000kms on it, my question is how many of you did your first oil change at the recommended mileage?? Did you do it before the recommended mileage or at it???
And how many found the grease zerk on the front drive shaft? I heard it can be tricky to find.
Please post what you guys and gals think is the optimal mileage to do the first oil change on a 07.

Thanks

IIRC, I did the first oil change at 2500 miles.
But that is on my '01.5.
If I were you, I would do it now; you are about 2500 miles.

You really shouldn't have to until the recommended interval, BUT....many like to do it early to rid of the break-in metals. Really no guidelines. I've seen some do it at 500 and others at 1000. 2500-3000 seems like a good a time as any.
Nothing wrong with doing it early. Wish I had a new truck to do it on

I did my first at 3k. But you should be fine as long as you do it within the schedule in your manual.

I cant varify this but I have read that oil analysis on new motors shows a high silicon (dust) level.......so I always change a new one out at about a thousand miles ......I always figgered it wouldnt hurt anyway

The dealer (Dave Smith) insisted that I change mine at 500 miles then follow the book. IIRC I actually changed it first at 800. I would have done it no later than 1000 miles regardless of the dealer. I think it's a good idea to remove the oil early on a new or rebuilt engine.

I just assume they would mean the break in oil and not "break in oil". As in the oil that was in there during initial break in???
My dealer just said change the oil at 500 miles and repeated it several times.

My dealer didn't even have a clue about diesels. They tried to tell me I could go 15k between oil changes. Idiots. I have found out though that they come from the factory with Valvoline prem. blue.
