99 cummins 2500 lift pump/hotrod vp44
So I was brought to believe my lift pump was in my fuel tank. And now think its on my block. Don't have my truck here I'm at work and it's in town. So I can't look ffs.
I ordered the air dog 150 for my truck to replace the one in the tank.
Anyone know if I'm screwed. Or is it possible to run the air dog on ether set up ?
If not. Can I run the vp44 hodrod injector pump with the stock lift pump till I exchange the air dog upgrade ?

with either stock placement (on block) or dealer fix (in tank), you are fine with the airdog. the AD 100 & 150 bypass the factory fuel filter since it has its own filter & water separator. If you do have the in-tank pump, the best thing to do is order a Vulcan Draw Straw and remove the pump from the canister thats in the tank. or you can get the complete canister from them. its call the the "modified liberty fuel module" that comes with a whole new canister with gauge sending unit and draw straw included. The sending unit for the fuel gauge has been known to go bad (happened to me) where it shows 1/4 tank but you are really empty. The draw straw ensures that you are always getting fuel from the tank.
As far as the hot rod pump, im not sure the flow that it requires to stay cool and lubed... but either way i would baby it and get the airdog on as FAST as you can before running.
search for "draw Straw" or "DSV" or post any questions you have when you tear into it. It is fairly simple once you get to the fuel module (canister) You can either lift the bed or drop the tank. I have an overhead winch so, lifting was the easier of the 2 for me. obviously, if you are going to drop the tank, the less fuel in the tank the easier it will be but the straps are a bigger pain in my opinion than getting a couple buddies to help lift the bed. Hope this helps...

I'm running the airdog 150 and my whole kit came with the pump filters fuel line and a draw straw... You just have to cut the draw straw to the angle that you want it, or that allows it pick up the fuel rather when u are getting low. We dropped the tank only took a couple hours.. The worst part was my tank had never been dropped before so my plate that protects the drive shaft from hitting the tank if it breaks was a pain to get off one bolt broke so now it's in the garage i would put the airdog on before the hot rod vp44 just to be safe

Yeah it was pretty sweet I was a little worries when I ordered it but when I got it I was relieved... Its made out of aluminum i believe, came with a rubber gasket also for the whole in the tank... Pretty good system so far no complaints keeps my psi at 16 idle and only drops to about 13-14 wide open
