Default 01' cummins dually odometer miss reading?

I have a 2001 ram 3500 cummins dually. It has 3.55 gears. Banks ram air intake, high ram elbow, afe cold air, turbo injectors, hot rod injection pump, and edge juice with attitude. My deal is mileage doesnt seem to add up right. It sits on 35'' tires. I only seem to go about 275 miles on 25 gals of diesel fuel. I run my programmer in stage 5x5 often, and tend to lay on it alot sometimes. does it really affect the mileage that much? is my odemeter off quite a few miles? I just bought this truck, owner said 16-17 around town..so going by what he said..Any help here guys?

Welcome to DB! I'm going to move this to the appropriate section after this post.

If you haven't had your speedometer corrected, your actually going 316 miles when the odometer says 275. Help a little in the situation, but not a lot. It takes your mileage from 11MPG to 12.6MPG.
How big of "turbo injectors" are you running? What is their advertised HP?
Black smoke is wasted fuel, and done often enough it may make a difference, but I don't think a noticeable one.
I don't see anything about a lift pump in that mix. That could make a huge difference in performance, and mileage.

I don't know... but that's horrible mileage. My setup gets 15mpg and I hammer on it all the time, and hard. Everything is mechanically sound? Tranny, brakes, 4wd? What kind of boost do you see and what are the egt's like? Stock hy35 turbo? Air filter and fuel filter good? fuel pressure is normal?

4 wd is good, trans shifts fine, i dont feel any slipping. brakes are shot and squeel, my brake pedal feels like it is slow to react which makes me think pad(s) are catching and sticking. like the boots are worn and all gummed up. egts can go up to 1150 floored in stage 5, but normal driving deems about 600-700 and i dont see boost go above ten (unless its floored) yea stock turbo..when i bought it he says its "hogged out".. port n polish maybe im not sure by what he meant..truck runs great and has amazing speed.. i have the afe intake, the filter is wrapped in a cloth cover..how would i check to see if fuel filter was good..i didnt buy truck for mileage, but i also didnt want to leave a 5.9 mileage to get the same mileage in this. fuel pressure sees 18-20, due for an oil change. next fillup im going to just run in stage 1, drive normally and see what that brings

I'm sure it needs a valve adjustment, for some guys that makes a big difference but I did mine and noticed nothing and they were way off. It's somewhere to start, because nothing you said above would justify mileage that bad. I have buddies running gnarly *** 35's and they can still pull 16mpg or better so I doubt tires are to blame. I'm wondering if your hand calculations are accurate

Change fuel filter and get a new airfilter or clean out your current one if it is washable, wash it. I dont know why the hell it would be wrapped in a cloth but i would take that off for sure. Check your intercooler boot clamps make sure they are tight. I would check valve lash also like mentioned above. When you are checking it divide your odo reading by # of gals you put in it at that fill (what it reads on the pump not what your tank holds). Whenever I get a new vehicle it gets cleaned and all fluids changed because who knows when the guy before did it, that way you know its good and can schedule changes for everything.
