Well I think I am going to start looking for a tranny. Need help making my mind up. I found a ATS built tranny with 5 Star Coverter. For 3,300.00 American doll hairs. Or I guess I could try to find a "Local" shop. I haven't found one that offers the 5year/500,000 warranty yet. I don't beat my truck that bad but I want some thing that is going to be there when I need it. All opinions would be great just need some help to make up my mind. Before its too late..

buy parts and have your local shop do it and save $2 grand, this buying built trannies -most of them- is a HUGE raccot. they are selling quality work but for like 500% mark up. they give you these huge warrenties because they can afford to build them 5 times before they are loosing money.
just my .02
i run the ATS 5 star and like it. maybe a little bit to low of a stall but nothing bad to say

I only worked one summer for Tony but were friends prior to and after I worked for him. He willingly shared a lot of things about Dodge trannies and autos in general. Just wish I could remember it all AND understand it like he did. He was going to help me do mine when I pull it but unfortunately he passed away last October.

auto trannies are cool as hell and buying experience is the down fall of doing it yourself. but about 95% of what these tranny shops do you can do in your own carage for hundreds and hundreds less if ou are willing to reasearch and spend the time. lots of shift kits to choose from TC clutches servoes ect ect. and you can buy them seperate bla bla bla. i will personally never spend $4000 of a transmission i can build for $1500 thats what im getting at.

first off you you dont have to have a $1000 TC. hard parts in the tranny is what get very expensive but the servoes and clutches, anchor, 4.1lever bands are VERY affordable. it depends on how much HP you are wanting to hold back. but to make a very reliable tranny to hold say 500HP for years and years of average triving can be dont for just a few hundred dolars MINUS the TC of your choice and finding a good deal on a billet input. i found one for $400 when i build my trans.
