Default Help with performance upgrades!

Hey there, I have a 2001 Cummins 6 speed.. It has about 265 miles on the odometer.. I have just recently bought this truck, and he said he had replaced the front and rear seals, the injectors, and the clutch, all stock.. But he had no receipts, and with that many km's i decided to buy new injectors just in case... I recently installed 75hp injectors to it, and now I am stuck on what to upgrade.. I am a complete diesel noob and this is my first diesel... I would love to get atleast 400 hp but I dont know what to upgrade next... I was thinking head studs and gasket because of the miles, but any website I go on doesnt say to upgrade those untill I have around 600hp.. Please help and remember I know nothing about diesels so make sure to dumb it down =P Thanks

first a fuel system upgrade then a full set of gauges or a programmer with built in gauges. then cold air intake and 4" turbo back exhaust

I actually have an aftermarket intake, and 4" exhaust, and am going to buy edge/attitude for guages so what do you mean by a fuel system like I said. Complete noob. And head studs and gasket are not necessary at the moment?

He's referring to the low pressure system, or lift pump. The factory lift pumps in these trucks are not designed for performance at all. Heck, they barely supply the proper fuel for a stock engine. A FASS or AirDog system is what most run, and they will keep the fuel supply to the Injection Pump(IP) proper. Lack of flow to the IP causes IP failures. VP44's are over $1000 before install, and a good lift pump is $500-$600 and a day of your time with some buddys.

Thanks for your reply and help, but back to other question... Will I not need to upgrade head gasket or studs soon seeing as how I have so many miles on it andputting in an airdog2 165, edge juice with attitude, super single b turbo, and then probably putting 150 nozzles in.

With all that then yes, you might want to. Personally I'd stud it before I got all that in there. You might also want to start pricing clutches, at the power level you're wanting to get to the stocker ain't gonna hold for long.

yes what they said. I would at the least stud it till it blows the gasket it could live a long time it's all luck of the draw. just swap out one at a time but bottom tap the block first. If you fill out your signature we would know whats been done to your truck. I would go with the fass platinum system all in one filter and less money.

An aftermarket LP is key to any horse power number. Weather its AirDog or Fass they are almost identical pumps will do you good. 400 hp is not what I would consider HIGH HP. As far as studs IMO you really don't need them until you are pushing 50 psi + of boost. However it is always a good thing to add if you have the coin for them.
