I finally Bought turbo lol! I been saving for about a year to buy it. I got me a HTT 66/71/14 and I was wondering did I make a right buy for the money I spent? The only thing I did not buy was a hx40 downpipe :argh: I heard you can make your own cheaper is this true? if so please put some pics up! Man I can't till it goes on the Billy Goat!!!:jump:

you can pick them up on ebay for cheap if needed and they are just leftovers from another kit. even new they are only like 100 bucks

well i got the fuel. I have 150 bd injector nozzles,superchips,and airdog.. those are me fuel mods with those 150's they are really smokey i think i should be good.. will this turbo be good on spooling quick? if so how quick?:humm:

lets just say no you don't have enough fuel it will not spool quick. it's not going to be a good daily driver or tow rig. you need something besides the superchip, that turbo right there will make 700hp on fuel alone on a vp truck.

Yeah you need to get rid of the superchips and get a edge comp or juice with hot unlock, and some bigger sticks would definitely help out alot to get that turbo spooling. Or you can tear the front of the truck apart and do a hamilton or colt big stick cam to help get that big bugger going.

well will this thing work? i spent close to 1900 bucks for this thing. I am still adding mods to the Billy Goat. Like I am planning on doing bigger sticks like 220's, I also might do a p-pump. I bought this turbo so later on in the future i would not have to buy another one. I think it should work in the mean time atleast.

Before i went with compounds I didn't even have enough fuel to where I was happy when I had my 64/14. It was still laggy and ran hot with edge juice, 150 sticks, hotrod vp44, pusher intake all that crap in my signature... A 66 isn't really a good choice for a daily driver VP truck. If you plan on doing a p pump and bigger sticks then yeah you're on to something but better get it done quick !! Let us know what you think after you put it on

It'll work yeah. It's just most likely gonna take a little while to spool it. Once it lights though it'll prob be impressive for ya. I'm on my cell phone so I cant see your sig. Do you have head studs? If not take it easy because it'll prob do about 50-55 psi even with your fueling

I run a billet 66 and love it, but i also have 800cc fuel on a p pump 24v...... its a good charger to have with alot of play room for power in the future for ya. It will be laggy but if you save up some money, and sell ur VP u can step into a bigger fuel supply with bigger injectors and a big ole' secondary :)

No I have not done the head studs Kingbrad89 right now the waste gate is set at 40lbs I am not going to mess with it untill I do head studs, ect. And my fuel mods on my truck are airdog 100,BD 150 sticks,superchips. It smokes WAY! to much. Like at 50 mph I can make my truck so much it will just roll forever thats why I need a bigger turbo I want less smoke and more HP. I do plan on P-puming the truck soon and buy bigger sticks.... Oh how loud will this HTT turbo be? is is going to be way louder on the outside than the stock HX35? It is a 7 blade compressor wheel?.... and How laggy will it be and when do you think it will spool like how many RPM's?

Yeah you need to dump that superchips and do an edge comp or edge juice with hot unlock. Just make sure you have some way of watching temps if you're doing the comp. It's going to smoke more in the low rpm's when you're bogging on it with that 66 just because it's not going to spool as fast as your hx. But once it spools it'll clear up the smoke. As far as sound it should sound real nice for ya on the outside

Yea well I had a comp box on my truck for two days and I sent it back cause I felt as if it didnt perform well with my superchips stacked.. I took the superchips out and ran the comp alone with the 150's and i seen no smoke on 5x5 it felt as if my pedel was dead. I stacked the superchips and the comp together and dang It smoked so much I blacked out the traffic lights here in town and cars where almost coming to a complete stop in the road it was that black.. and It made my truck slower. I also put the Edge boost elbow on my turbo and my boost went down I was like a 7lbs maxed and it just smoked crazy.So I took that off and put the stock elbow back on and my boost went back up I dont get it lol..With the money I got back from the EDGE I put it in the bank and saved up and bought me the HTT pro street 66/71/14.. I want to stop some of the smoke like when I get on my truck I dont want it to still smoke heavy I want it to GO with less smoke ya know. How many Lbs. of boost do you think to get it to spool.?

It sounds like you had a leak somewhere in that boost elbow install... But like you described blacking out the intersections and tons of smoke, that's the kind of fuel you're gonna need to spool that turbo. The more fuel the better for that thing. If you had a bad experience with the edge comp, go to the juice. You're gonna need at least the edge tuner and 200hp injectors to be happy at all with that turbo on a vp truck. As connermcpherson explained earlier, he loves his 66 on his p pump truck. You need to add fuel. Now boost pressure is going to increase with the more fuel you add, as well as better spool time.

Yea i plan on doing the P-pump converson soon when my funds let me. but in the mean time im not going to send this turbo back i havent even put it on the truck. I have to go pick up my downpipe tomorrow and i hope i will have the new turbo in. I will keep yall posted and tell yall how the 66 runs with the 150's and superchips.:rocking:

Yeah deffinently need more fuel right now with everything I have in my signature my 64 still is laggy especially on the freeway in OD. Runs really hot also. Havnt tried water meth yet tho

dude it will be fine, these guys are from up north where the air is real dense, i ran a 64/71 with 75 sticks an mine ran damn good

So have you gotten around to bolting that thing up? How is it running? I am running a Super B Special on mine with some 175hp injectors. I have just had to re-learn driving with it and being an auto. I am running a Edge Juice and a Smarty stack and it seems that the Smarty helps me with the spool up. I do not plan on living up North forever and will be heading back to South Florida. But my setup seems to be doing pretty good and I am happy with it. I am interested to see your thoughts once you get it on.

Have fun with that 66... towing and daily driving is going to suck.. your only hope with enough fuel is ditch the superchip..it DOESNT make good power... invest in a redline, edge, quadzilla something... oh and 200 horse injectors atleast..

my good friend runs a 64 from BD the 4k box DDP 200's and a 5speed..even with the dense south texas air it sucks unless your foots off in it and its over 2100rpms

It sounds to me like the edge comp was just an edge and not a comp and the wire wasnt probably tapped. Im tellin ya, a superchip and 150's aint gonna cut it! Not to optimum performance anyhow.

Well guys I ran into a problem yesterday while I was putting on the turbo. :argh: I have it all bolted up in place but the boots back on ect. I went to put the oil line that goes on top of the turbo and went to make sure that fitting was tight and it broke :dang: I was so pissed i quit workin on my truck.. so today I have to get a new fitting and bolt up the down pipe.. I hope I can find that oil fitting so I can drive my dang truck :scare2: Its been 3 very long days without my Billy Goat :dang:
