Default cheap Hx 40 options

well today i was offered a knock of hx 40 for 50 bucks, i picked it up figuring its too cheap to pass up.. it was ran on a vp truck similar to mine for about a year with no problems.

their is no shaft play and it looks to be in decient shape...

my question is since i heard the issues with these knock off turbos is on the compressor side would it be worth takin my hx35 compressor half and makin a hybrid hx35/40? could this even be done?

any help is appreciated

You would want to go the other way fir the hybrid the 40 compressor on the 35 turbo otherwise you have a realy laggy 35 and why would you want that? How big is the exhaust housing, the knockoff I had had a t4 flange with a 19 cm housing it would have spooled terebly but I got it for free

i would say no, it will be a dog unless you have some huge injectors! i sold mine for 200 bucks to some kid wanting to put it on a eagle tallon probably your best bet, you wont like it on there at all imo

Dude, youre wrong here, the factory hx35 is roughly 54mm inducer, the hx40 on those ebay knock offs is usually 58mm, not much difference. also, just cause it has the t4 style flange does not make it a 19cm housing, the one i have sitting on my bench is a t4 flange but a 14cm2 exhaust housing. an hx40 hybrid is not going to be laggy with a hx35 12cm housing swapped on. to make a hyrid, just take the hx35 you have now, take it to a turbo shop to have the compressor side honed out to accept the bigger compressor wheel of the hx40, put the hx40 wheel and housing onto the 35 and put on truck. You will be able to spool it fine. you dont need "huge" injectors to spool a hx40/35 hybrid even on the street. matter of fact, if youre running bigger than 100 hp sticks than that would be TOO BIG for the hx40 to run efficently. so stock injectors with a box or at last the RV injectors will easily spool that hybrid. SDX 125s would be right on the edge of the efficency for a hx40/35 hybrid.

I wasn't saying his was the 19 just stating what mine was and which would spook teribly, and if you read it he wanted to put the 35 wheel and housing on the 40 not the other way makeing it backwards hybrid , and to the op if you do put the 40 wheel and housing on your original 35 then your injectors you are planning to get will spool it fine probably almost on the large side of things for that charger anyways

You can always buy an ht3b from a truck and make your own twins with it
