It all depands on what you like, I did a 4" downpipe to a 5" stack about an inch over the roof of the truck with a raincap, sure its loud but I like it that way. Most days I drive with the back window open so I can hear it talk to me, cant hear the radio when I do that but hey, who needs a radio.

when my dodge was stock it came with a 3 in turbo back.. i cut out the muffler and just threw in a delete pipe... way loud and a more high pitch sound. the bigger the exhaust the more deep amd mello it gets. 5 in single stacks make ppl hate driving their trucks. i ran one and it was crazyyyy loud. felt like i was getting punched in the head every time i drove it. upgraded to dual 5 in tht is about 3 in above the cab. loud but its a deeper sound. guys with 5 alll the way back get a even deeper, mello sound. and having the stacks a little above the cab makes the cab noise alottt better.. i can actually talk on the phone and drive. so yes i agree a 4 in all the way back is louder then running 5+in dual stacks. but a single 5 is prolly a little louder or at least ull feel like it while it rattles the cab

Best sound in my opinion is a 5" straight pipe exhaust with a 6" TIP.

i miss my stacks. I had them on my 97 and they sounded sweet. My 05 would already have black 5 or 6" aussies if i didnt have a short box. AUGHHHH for that. I havea 5" TBE right now and its ok a little raspy for my taste but it was on there when i bought it.

i like it out the back. from what i have heard you truck runs a little better with it out the back too. acts as a vaccum pulling the hot air out the tail pipe versus something stuck up in the air, cant pull as easily. just my 2 cents

going to do 4 inch down and out on mine real soon!!
