i was just wondering is a smoke switch a good thing or not? does it even make a difference? and if so how do i do it?

 

i'm no expert as i've never had one but i believe it's just a boost fooler and opens your wastegate so you make no boost which in turn gives you less air which wastes fuel and pumps black smoke. hence the smoke switch

 

Just don't do it

Just get a programmer, and build up your truck instead of being hard on it

remember....smoke=bad
where there is smoke there is power to be made by adding air to that unburned fuel

 

i have 1 on my 1999 ctd. and holy crap it makes a differents its like coal( at a stand still) it WILL hurt your truck if u drive with it on all the time and u wont see a lot of smoke driving!!! but it is SUPER easy to put on. all u need is some wire and a toggle switch! and a chip cuz u have 2 tap into 1 of its wires but a basic chip will work i have a edge EZ and that works! i dont know if u can do it with out a chip?but i didnt use the switch all the time but my fuel pump just went out so idk if thats because of the switch? but i have had it 4 a yr or so! so i got a fuel pump and lift pump with 65hp injectors! but thats salty! i will post the vid i used to do it!

 

Also, when people go around dumping out as much black smoke as possible, it screws us diesel lovers! There is a possibilty that stunts like that will get California style emission laws EVERYWHERE. Cops can give you a ticket as well.

I would never put one on my truck, I actually want it to LAST. Its going to drive your EGTs up like crazy

 

not really its not "bad"for it IF u dont use it all the time! but use it 2 much and to long your computer might go out on u! but i wouldnt do it for your only mod! i did mine so i could show of to freinds but i dont use it on the road alot!

 

Yes it really is bad, and exactly eventually its going to screw up your ECM. You'll never catch me putting some jacked up switch and wiring in my truck just to make it smoke. I would rather save my money and buy something worth while.

Look at RAW, he put his own Compound turbos together on his truck and didn't have to shell out the 2-5 thousand. Thats the stuff that is worth while.

Might as well just put a plastic bag around the air filter
